Intensive care medicine

Working as part of the Intensive care team, we look after critically ill patients who are at risk of or recovering from potentially life-threatening failure of any of the body’s organ systems.

We provide round the clock intensive care for medical and surgical patients and high dependency care for surgical patients. When necessary we arrange and coordinate the referral of patients for specialist investigation and treatment in the UK.

If you are a patient or the relative of a patient in the ICU we know that this can be a very frightening time and we will do everything we can to reassure you and achieve the best possible outcome.

All our anaesthetists provide cover for the ICU. The lead clinicians for the unit are Dr Graham Beck, Dr David McColl and Dr Gary Yarwood.
