Our experienced consultant anaesthetists provide different types of general and regional (local) anaesthesia for surgical or other invasive procedures and high quality sedation for some procedures. We oversee safety and good quality pain relief during and immediately after your procedure.
We care for you as an individual, taking all your needs to account. As well as providing medical support to the sickest patients in the Intensive care unit, we also provide the epidural service for pregnant women in labour.
If you are having surgery under general anaesthetic, your anaesthetist will meet you beforehand in outpatients or on the ward to assess you and to help you understand what the process will involve and answer any questions you have.
You may be cared for by an anaesthetist during other procedures in hospital such as dental surgery, endoscopy or an MRI scan.
Our fully equipped day surgery unit offers a range of services, including chronic pain management.
