Paediatrics

Specialist care for children from newborn to adolescent.

We understand how upsetting it is for your child to experience health problems and we’re here to support both you and your child in reaching the best possible outcome.

Our highly experienced team of consultants are specialised in neonatal (newborn) and general paediatric care, in addition to specific sub-specialties for renal and gastroenterology, diabetes, endocrine issues, allergies and nutrition. We help patients from newborn to adolescent.

Our neonatology service is for all newborn babies and their mothers and includes routine care for babies on Loveridge ward, attending high-risk deliveries and intensive care for premature babies.

We also provide a community paediatric service for children and young people who are vulnerable due to disease, disability or disadvantage, working in partnership with education and HSC.

We offer the following non-contract services which you or your health insurer can pay for:

  • Specialist baby clinic Babies are checked routinely by a GP within 48 hours of the birth to ensure that the baby is physically well and has no congenital problems. We offer parents the option of a further and more thorough health check for their baby, with a consultant paediatrician at any time during the first three months. This gives you the opportunity to discuss any feeding, sleep, developmental or other concerns. It enables earlier detection and more effective management of any underlying conditions and can provide a greater level of reassurance that all is well.
