PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

Injections to treat conditions such as osteoarthritis and tendon problems

Platelet rich plasma therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that harnesses the body’s ability to heal itself, by amplifying the body’s own natural growth factors.

The therapy uses injections of a concentration of the patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, muscles, and joints. The injections are prepared from samples of the patient’s blood that are run through a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets.

The injections are often guided using ultrasound imaging to ensure they target the exact problem area.

PRP can be used to treat osteoarthritis, tendon problems (eg tennis elbow) and other joint, and connective tissue issues.
