Mr David Beaumont was Guernsey’s first fully qualified ENT specialist when he joined the MSG in 1998. Before then, patients had to travel to the UK for major ENT surgery or wait for a visiting surgeon to treat them on island.
Born in England, he grew up in Australia and trained as an ENT Consultant in Adelaide. He then undertook additional specialist training in Oxford and Amsterdam, furthering his interest in head and neck cancer surgery and otology (complex surgery of the ear).
He-specialises in reconstructive surgery of the ear (in particular procedures to restore hearing, such as stapedectomy and ossciuloplasty), sinus surgery and paediatric ENT conditions.
Mr Beaumont is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and on the European specialist medical register. He is a member of the British Association of Otolaryngology - Head and neck surgery, the European Academy of Otology and Neuro-otology and the Politzer Society (an international specialist ear surgery organisation).
“I was initially drawn to specialising in ENT because it allows me to treat both children and adults, using a mix of medicine and surgery to restore hearing and improve quality of life. One of the most fulfilling aspects of my role is being able to perform fine microscopic surgery to help people hear again.”
In his leisure time, David enjoys walking his dogs – an English Cocker Spaniel and Wheaten Scottish Terrier, playing padel tennis, and cooking Thai food.
