Dr Richard Evans joined the MSG in 2016 from Northampton General Hospital, where he held the roles of Chair of the Hospital blood transfusion committee, Clinical lead for paediatric anaesthesia and critically ill children and Trust anaesthetic lead for enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) and goal-directed fluid therapy.
Dr Evans undertook his medical training at St Bartholomew’s Medical College in London and worked as an anaesthetist for 21 years in a number of UK hospitals, the last 14 years as a consultant.
He has gained considerable experience in a wide range of anaesthetic areas, including paediatrics, general surgery, orthopaedics, vascular, intensive care, obstetrics, ENT/maxillofacial, thoracics, ophthalmics, gynaecology, urology and plastic surgery.
Dr Evans chairs the Anaesthesia directorate for the MSG.
Outside work Dr Evans enjoys surfing and has completed three Granite Man Triathlons.
