The MSG is introducing Heidi, a new smart AI assistant that helps doctors by taking notes during patient visits. From the notes, it can automatically create documents, such as referral letters and patient summaries, which the doctor checks and signs off.
This helps our consultants save time, focus more on their patients, and handle documentation efficiently. Heidi is secure and only used for your care.

We’re introducing Heidi so that our doctors can spend more time with patients and less on paperwork. With Heidi, it’s easier for your consultant to focus on you as they are not having to turn to their computer or paper to make notes. And it produces immediate note summaries that can be checked and signed off within minutes, meaning faster communication with GPs and other teams.
Yes. Your doctor will check with you at the start of your consultation that you’re happy for Heidi to be used. If you say no, then we won’t use it.
Every clinic room has been fitted with pod microphones which are switched on when Heidi is in use.
The consultant presses ‘Start’ and Heidi then captures every relevant detail. The consultant can then choose their preferred template, and Heidi will create the document which the consultant checks before it goes out.
No. It is not used for medical advice. The doctor who sees the patient is fully responsible for the advice they give.
Every letter generated by Heidi will be reviewed by the doctor who carried out the consultation before they sign it off.
Heidi transcribes conversations in real time. The audio recording itself is processed only temporarily to generate written notes and is then deleted. The transcript of your conversation is held for 60 days and then automatically deleted.
We’ve looked very carefully at how safe and secure this technology is. It meets all the rules for privacy and data protection and is already used in many places around the world.
Heidi Health was created and built by clinicians who were passionate about freeing doctors from non-clinical work so they could focus on their patients . It was launched in February 2024 and now supports clinicians around the world in more than one million consultations a week.
