Mr Michael Blundell is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and has a strong background in all ophthalmic sub-specialties.
He graduated from the University of Leicester Medical School in 2001 and completed his basic and higher ophthalmology training in southwest England, during which time he was awarded an MD from the University of Bristol for his specialist research into complications associated with intraocular lenses. Before taking up his post in Guernsey he undertook further specialist training at the Royal London Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Since joining the MSG in 2014, Mr Blundell has been integral to the unit’s medical retina programme, treating age related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and other macular pathologies. He also has a special interest in oculoplastic surgery and works as part of the multidisciplinary skin cancer team.
In his leisure time, Mr Blundell enjoys sea swimming and spending time on Guernsey’s beautiful beaches with his family.
