He was educated at King’s College Lagos and went on to study medicine at the University of Benin in Nigeria. Moving to the UK, he attended junior specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Greater Manchester and the West Midlands and then worked as a specialist in South Wales.
He undertook further specialist training in the London, Kent, Surrey, Sussex (KSS) postgraduate deanery and worked for two years as a Senior Registrar at King’s College Hospital London. He was appointed as a Consultant in the same hospital in 2008 and worked there until 2012 when he joined the MSG.
His main areas of interest are colposcopy, gynaecological ultrasound, gynaecological endocrinology including menopause and Infertility. He is a member of the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP), the British Fertility Society (BFS), the British Menopause Society (BMS) and the British Medical Association (BMA). He is on the specialist register of the GMC.
Mr Nzewi cares for general gynaecology patients especially those with abnormal periods, endometriosis, post-menopausal bleeding, and pelvic pains and gynaecological endocrinology patients including polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), post-menopausal problems and HRT.
He is particularly proud of the link that he established with the Wessex fertility centre to facilitate assisted conception, especially IVF, for islanders.
“What I find most fulfilling is helping a couple who are struggling with getting pregnant to achieve pregnancy, looking after the woman throughout the pregnancy and helping with delivery of the baby. Managing a woman through her perimenopause and menopause can be clinically challenging but also rewarding”
Outside work, Mr Nzewi enjoys watching sport particularly football and playing squash rackets.
