Originally from Germany and having trained in the UK, Miss Helou is a highly experienced ophthalmologist with comprehensive training across a broad range of subspecialties. She completed her specialist ophthalmology training in the East of England Deanery as well as undertaking advanced fellowships in high volume cataract surgery at Stoke Mandeville hospital, medical retina at St Thomas Hospital, paediatric ophthalmology at the Royal Free Hospital in London and a junior fellowship in oculoplastics and anterior segment surgery at the Royal Surrey County Hospital prior to training.
With over 15 years of clinical experience across the UK and Europe, including roles at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, St. Thomas’ Hospital and the University Eye Hospital in Ulm, Miss Helou has developed expertise in cataract surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, glaucoma, cornea, medical retina, and oculoplastics. She brings a patient-focused, multidisciplinary approach to care and remains committed to clinical excellence and service development in ophthalmology.
The outdoor island lifestyle attracted Miss Helou to Guernsey, and outside of work she enjoys sailing, swimming, yoga and Pilates.
