Dr Hotnogu-Srichom joined the MSG in 2026 as a Consultant Paediatrician, strengthening the care available to children and families across the Bailiwick. She brings extensive experience in acute and high-dependency paediatric care, with a strong commitment to child advocacy, safeguarding and compassionate, family-centred care.
Originally trained in Romania, Dr Hotnogu-Srichom completed her medical degree at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” in Bucharest before undertaking paediatrics specialty training through the Romanian Ministry of Health. Before moving to the UK, she worked as a consultant in paediatric emergency medicine at the Emergency Hospital for Children “Grigore Alexandrescu” in Bucharest, caring for critically unwell children and those referred from other hospitals.
She later joined Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where she worked in senior clinical and consultant roles across acute and complex paediatrics. Her experience spans general paediatrics, paediatric emergency medicine, neonatal intensive care, infectious diseases, neurology, endocrinology and diabetes, medical genetics, and safeguarding.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Hotnogu-Srichom has contributed to service improvement and evidence-based practice throughout her career. Her quality improvement work in Romania helped reduce waiting times for children with less urgent conditions by 37 per cent, and she has also supported the implementation of electronic patient records at Birmingham Children’s Hospital to help improve safety and efficiency in clinical care. She has also been involved in national paediatric research, including the BACHb bronchiolitis trial.
In her spare time, Dr Hotnogu-Srichom enjoys travelling, spending quality time with her family, exploring new places, long walks in nature with her Shiba Inu, and discovering new food and culinary experiences.
“Children are incredibly resilient, but they rely on us not only for medical care, but also for compassion, protection, and a voice when they cannot always speak for themselves.”
