Dr Michelle Le Cheminant joined the MSG in 2019 as a locum Consultant Anaesthetist and was appointed to a permanent position in 2020. Before this, she was a locum Consultant in Anaesthesia and Peri-Operative medicine at University College London Hospital.
In addition to her clinical role, Dr Le Cheminant has been Chair of the MSG since January 2026.
Growing up on the island, Dr Le Cheminant attended the Castel Primary School and Ladies’ College before completing her higher education at the University of Cambridge followed by her MBBS qualification at King’s College London.
While training as an anaesthetist in the UK, she gained extensive experience working for six months in 2017 in Zambia at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka as a Visiting Lecturer in Anaesthesia. She developed a specialist interest in paediatric, ophthalmic and obstetric anaesthesia, having completed advanced training in each of these areas during her time in the UK.
Dr Le Cheminant completed the diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG) in 2016 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2014.
She is heavily involved in charitable work and volunteers regularly with Orbis International, with recent projects in Rwanda, Mongolia and Zambia.
Dr Le Cheminant loves spending time with her husband and her extended family. She also volunteers her time as a Commissioner with the Guernsey Overseas Aid and Development Commission which distributes money provided by the States of Guernsey to charities undertaking humanitarian work in the world's least developed countries.
“I love working in the surgical team and caring for my patients throughout their surgical journey, from the pre-operative clinic all the way to the recovery room. Teaching and training are additional aspects of my role I find very rewarding.”
