Dr Aneurin Matthew graduated from the University of Leeds in 1998 and then trained in various UK hospitals. He undertook his specialist training in the Oxford Postgraduate Deanery, with much of his time spent at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading and the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Before joining the MSG in 2012, he spent four years as a Consultant Physician and Geriatrician at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
Dr Matthew’s particular interest is in community geriatrics, focusing on the post-acute care of older people in order to maximise their functional recovery after acute illness.
Outside work, Dr Matthew is a keen table tennis player.
“I am passionate about the care of frail elderly patients with multiple co-morbidities. Making a difference to quality of life is the aspect I find most fulfilling.”
