The recruitment process

A stress-free process from interview to relocation

We recognise the prospect of relocating to work and live in Guernsey can be quite daunting. So, whether you have knowledge of Guernsey or not, or if you are unsure about the prospect, we’re here to help.

The recruitment process

We tailor the process to your needs. If you would like to understand more about the healthcare model or the job plan for the post you are interested in, we will connect you with the right people.

  • Candidates are shortlisted by a panel consisting of MSG and HSC members, and usually the appropriate Royal College.
  • If shortlisted, candidates are interviewed on a Saturday morning, acknowledging clinical commitments during a working week are hard to re-arrange. We’ll communicate to all candidates when we intend to interview at the very beginning of our communication. Expenses for a 2-night stay during interview visits are covered by us, for you and your partner.
  • We will offer the post to the successful candidate usually on the day of interview, and the following Monday, our team is on hand to discuss the next steps with you and provide more detail on the exciting offer.
  • Once an offer is accepted, we’ll guide you and your family through relocating to the island. We also provide a relocation support package to make that process as stress-free as possible.

The Medical Specialist Group is different

We are a partnership of consultants contracted to provide specialist medical services to the islands of Guernsey.

Sitting within its own independent healthcare model outside the NHS, Guernsey’s healthcare structure allows our consultants to have greater involvement in high-quality direct patient care and make a big difference to a small community.

The Princess Elizabeth Hospital, run by Guernsey’s government, benefits from strong clinical links to specialised UK mainland centres. It is currently undergoing a £100m modernisation programme to deliver the highest quality facilities for patients and healthcare professionals alike.
