MSG Annual Report 2018

February 7, 2019

The Medical Specialist Group is released its 2018 Annual Report on the 7th February 2019.  The document reflects on the first year of operation under the Secondary Healthcare Contract particularly in terms of activity, capacity and governance.

The publication of MSG’s Annual Report complements the publication by HSC and MSG of the Key Performance Indicators that are measured as part of the Secondary Healthcare Contract.

In his Chairman’s Message, Dr Gary Yarwood talks about the transition of the organisation from a general partnership to a limited liability partnership and an overview of the structure of the new organisation is set out in the report. During the year, 10 consultants transferred from associates to partners, bringing the total number of partners to 34.

Dr Yarwood also mentions the high demand for healthcare services and how the MSG continues to work closely with our colleagues at HSC to increase capacity and improve efficiency. Two new consultant positions were approved during the year in the areas of gastroenterology and oncology and these positions will be filled during 2019 bringing the total number of MSG consultant posts to 49.

Dr Yarwood goes on to say: “I would like to express my thanks on behalf of all the partners of the MSG to all healthcare professionals who contribute to the care of our patients.” He also thanks the staff of the MSG for their hard work, care and commitment.

The findings of the annual patient feedback survey is also provided in the report. The full MSG Annual Report for 2018 is available by clicking on the link below:
