Consultant ophthalmologist
About
Mr Tristian Mann joined the MSG in early 2023, having worked as a locum ophthalmologist for the group for several months during 2022.
His medical training was at Wits University, Johannesburg, South Africa, after which he worked as a GP for five years in South Africa then two years in Ireland.
During this period, he realised he wanted to specialise, and he went on to train under Professor Stegman, a world-renowned glaucoma surgeon, developing his surgical expertise in glaucoma oculoplastic and vitreoretinal.
He moved to the UK in 2019 and worked in the NHS mainly in Brighton and Chichester before moving to Guernsey.
Mr Mann has an acronym DOOR – duty, obligation, obsession, responsibility - and he believes that if you have this as your anchor point you always strive to be better.
“I’m always inspired to see the reaction of patients the next day when you have performed cataract or corneal refractive surgery. I find it very fulfilling to deliver excellent care which results in extremely happy patients who can see the very next day how well their surgery has gone.”
In his spare time, Mr Mann enjoys outdoor activities, including mountain biking. He had a private pilot’s license which he would like to renew. In the past year he has completed an MBA, learnt how to code and use CAD design software.
