Cyber incident update - 29 July 2022

29 July 2022

Unfortunately, we have become aware that another batch of fraudulent emails has gone out to patients and other external contacts purporting to be from the MSG.

There is no evidence that there has been a further cyber incident since the original one in December 2021. All indicators suggest that the efforts we made to contain the original incident were successful.

This wave differs from previous waves in that it appears the perpetrators are not using the emails they obtained in the original incident. Instead, they appear to be using the MSG brand in a new email to target people with @cwgsy.net email addresses.

We are continuing to work closely with our cyber forensic investigators, the ODPA, and the Guernsey Police Cybercrime Unit to see what can be done to prevent the perpetrators from continuing to forward the emails they obtained in the original incident.

If you suspect you have received one of these emails, please do not click on any links or open any attachments. Delete it immediately. You can also block the sender. If you have multiple email accounts, you may wish to use an alternative address to contact the MSG going forward, if this would give you some peace of mind.

We apologise again for any inconvenience caused.
