Dr Beejal Patel was appointed as an acute medicine consultant in 2022 after more than two years caring for acute medicine patients in Guernsey as a locum doctor. 

Dr Patel originally trained at St George’s Hospital, London, then worked at Poole hospital after completing her specialist training in 2016. 

While in Poole hospital she played an active role in service improvement and post graduate training. She was responsible for achieving recognition for the acute medicine advanced nurse practitioner role in acute outpatient care, and developing the nurse led outpatient follow up clinic.  

Her main focus is acute medicine, but she is developing her subspeciality interest in syncope, the medical term for fainting or passing out.
